SUMMARY:Space Medicine\, Health and MedTech Innovations\, a lecture by Susan Ip-Jewell
DESCRIPTION:Space Medicine\, Health and MedTech Innovations\, a lecture by Susan Ip-Jewell\nIn the frame of the new Space Renaissance Academy Webinar Series programme\, chaired by the optimum Sabine Heinz\, a quite interesting and rich lecture was given yesterday by Dr. Susan Ip Jewell.\nSusan is CEO and founder of Mars Moon Astronautic Academy Research Science (MMAARS)\, one of the SRI VicePresidents and a pasionate space activist. And she’s Commander of Analog Training missions on Moon and Mars simulated surface.\nIn her lecture\, she gives us a wide overlook on many aspects of human health in space\, the edge of the space medicine\, the innovative techniques using incremental technologies\, developing systems integrating robotic\, artificial intelligence\, remote telemedicine\, avatars and drones.\n \nBtw\, Sabine\, in addition to being an efficient organizer and coordinator\, has revealed unexpected talents as a great media presenter!Sabine was fantastic\, moderating the intense discussion that followed the lecture\, about the many challenges humanity is facing\, while kicking off the civilian space development.\nSeveral questions and considerations were raised\, by the audience\, and by the panelists — Bernard Foing\, SRI President\, A. V. Autino. former SRI President and SR Academy Strategy Director\, Sabine Heinz\, Chair of the Webinar Series and of the SR Art Chapter\, Thomas Matula\,  SR Academy\, Educational Director — on topics like (randomly): \n\nin few months we will have four civilians flying on ISS: though the media only talk about this exciting event in a superficial mode\, several challenges stand in the background\nwhat is the main danger for health in space\, low gravity\, radiations\, somethimg else\nwhat will be the embryo development in space?\nwill reproduction be possible in space?\nis there a doctor onboard ISS?\nwill the civilian visitors to ISS have any kind of medical insurance\, or warrants? will anybody be responsible for their life ad health?\ndoes any idea exist\, about what could be surgery in microgravity?\nduring civilian space development\, will the main danger be the human aspects and behaviours?\nwill social issues raise and play a meaningful role\, during the settlement oin the Solar System? (refer: R. Heinlein\, James Corey “The Expanse”\, John Brunner\, Ursula Le Guin\, and more… Paul Anderson\, Jack vance\, …)\nhumanity will face many challenges\, it will be an evolutionary challenge: we will have to grow very much in maturity; however\, the positive thing is the enormous abundance of resources of the asteroids\, the planets and tjeir moons\ncivilian space development will benefit space settlers and planet Earth\, and the ones that will remain\nwith the growth of the space economy\, and the exo-industrial development\, space will be a possibility for everybody\, not only for the few rich people who can afford at the dawn of the space age\, that we are living now\nexperiments of surgery in zeroG were done during parabolic zeroG flights\ntelerobotic surgery is beinge experimented on Earth (Earth to Earth)\nanalog missions are being developed\, to experiment mixed crews\, composed by humans\, robots and avatars\nsending avatars to the Moon will be useful\, during the preparation for human presence\npsychological issues will be the main challenge\, wherever humans are in the loop\, there will be unpredictable events… this is the danger\, and the beauty of human communities\, wherever they are\nliving on the Moon\, on Mars\, or in space O’Neill habitats\, will generate new cultures\, new social models\, new governance methods\, different from the ones we knew on Earth (capitalism\, socialism\, etc…)\n\nPresident Foing concluded the webinar with a few remarks. Space Renaissaance starts on Earth. Now we have more tools to observe and protect the Earth\, we have more connectivity\, but we also have more tools to damage it. With space exploration\, thinking and meditation\, we can promote the value of science\, of progress\, of technology  of critical sensing thinking\, social responsibility. So we have to become more mature\, learning to live on multiple planets and improve our society. Analog training is important for all of the above\, exploring our limits and also multiply our capabilities. What are we going to teach in the future schools on the Moon to our children born on the Moon; heritage\, responsibility intercultural. And we can use robots and avatars. In 20 years i plan to retire on the Moon\, on the near side\, so i can look at all of you in the sky\, and i will invite you all to visit me\, to the Moon Olympics\, but also to the next series of the Space Renaissance Webinars.\nThe whole webinar is available on the Youtube Space Renaissance channel: https://youtu.be/rwF4jbsE4oc \n\nDon’t forget to subscribe to the channel! \nHere you can see the SRI Webinar Series Calendar\, coordinated by Sabine Heinz\, with many dates already confirmed up to 2022.\nWant to help\, or participate?
